Concrete Pour and Earthwork on Maternelle Site

As progress continues on the campus transformation, we are starting to see the new Maternelle buildings coming into form. While February had some snow and rain, there were also some clear days, and a lot of progress was made on the site.

The Maternelle buildings will house TPS, Preschool, Pre-kindergarten, and Kindergarten, with a building for each grade level. At the end of February, we have concrete pads and stem walls built for three of the four buildings and the plumbing work is underway. There is a lot of dirt to move, and earthwork to complete to ensure a leveled site. That work is ongoing.

The team has also made mock-ups of the roof, windows, and structural framing including connection points, drainage solutions, and finishing and protection methods. Mock-ups are full-scale models of specific building components built before actual construction. They help teams verify materials, detect problems, practice complex assemblies, and identify design or installation issues.

This project will be funded through campaign philanthropy, our campus redevelopment fund, and strategic borrowing. We are able to move forward with the campus transformation due to the long-term planning done by prior boards. To date, Grow with Us: The Campaign for French International has raised over two million dollars from lead supporters. This campaign and project will take our whole community, and we encourage you to start thinking about how you and your family would like to be involved.
