Groundbreaking for Maternelle site, two million raised

French International reached two significant milestones in December, officially breaking ground on the Maternelle site and reaching 2 million dollars raised in the capital campaign.
On Monday, December 2, the Capital Campaign Committee, Board of Trustees, and French International leadership gathered to break ground on the Maternelle site. The groundbreaking came after French International received all necessary permits from the City of Portland to begin construction.
The celebration also aligned with Grow With Us, The Campaign for French International reaching two million dollars raised. The campaign has support from 47 donors, including parents, grandparents, alumni parents, and 100% of the Board of Trustees. The campaign committee and French International leadership are continuing to have conversations with leadership donors as they work towards their 8 million dollar goal.
Carbon Group and the French International team have begun construction on the Maternelle site in earnest, including continuing clearing of the site and fine grading. The new building will be located on the southwest corner of campus, where Satellite Three used to sit. These buildings will house TPS, preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classrooms, as well as other important programmatic spaces.
The new Maternelle building is expected to be open for students at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.
French International’s full campus transformation will create a student-centered environment, prepare the school for future growth, and establish a permanent campus. This transformational project will enhance the educational capabilities of the school and would not be possible without the generosity of our entire community.
